Disappointment Day

Monday, April 01, 2013

I really need to start bringing my camera around with me everywhere.... These past couple of weeks, I've visited the most picturesque, hidden gems around Seoul but didn't have the brains to capture any of it. Sigh. Lesson learned!

Here's Austin once again. I had promised to have brunch with him weeks ago, but you know how it goes. I get busy, then he gets busy, we're broke, or the weather's shit. Finally we found some time today, and what better way to spend time than by looking completely insane by documenting our food from every angle for 20 whole minutes...

I had originally wanted to try out Sinchon's Battered Sole for some authentic fish and chips, but it was CLOSED. My heart crumbled a little bit with disappointment :( maybe another day...

Austin pushed for brunch instead and we ended up at Cafe the Air near Hongdae

SO HAPPY HE DID cause the food was absolutely amazing <3

English Breakfast Brunch
Pumpkin soup in a bread bowl, sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, side salad

Strazzetti
Grilled beef with mushrooms and a side salad

I've heard about some magical chocolate eclairs from a little bakery called Paul & Paulina's in Hongdae, but alas, it was closed or under repair or something. This post's title is starting to make some sense now, huh? But Austin and I were determined to find somewhere just as good to go, and that's when we stumbled upon Cafe Source. (which actually didn't take very long, because it was right next door)

A cute little urban cafe-resto with a huge outdoor patio, perfect for the coming summer days. Found at the quieter end of the area with an abundance of planted trees and open seating, you'll forget that you're even in Hongdae.

Strawberry cheesecake and afternoon cocktails were more than satisfactory. Will definitely be back for the main courses!

"Studying." Don't mind me.

Falling in love with Hongdae with every visit. Maybe I'll make this a every-Monday thing, especially now that the days are warming up!
