Hummus Kitchen

Sunday, November 03, 2013

What better way to kiss the weekend good-bye than with a new restaurant? On the menu this gloomy Sunday is Hummus Kitchen, Itaewon's latest Middle Eastern hot spot. Now, when I think of Middle Eastern restaurants, the ultra chic and brightly lit ambiance of Hummus Kitchen of is definitely not what comes to mind. Needless to say, the wine bottle-lined walls and fresh Moroccan patterned decor was a welcomed surprise, and the food was absolutely to die for and worthy of all praises.

Mixed kebab of lamb, beef and chicken
Served with a tiny side of couscous, salad dressed in vinaigrette, and potato wedges

I've just recently discovered my love for lamb, and the lamb kebab here, doused in heavy amounts of cumin, was especially great.

Hummus Avocado on Pita
Without a doubt the star of the show. Homemade hummus spread across a giant piece of pita topped with avocado, tomato, olives, parsley, and chopped nuts. So good, I'm already dreaming of the day I have it again.

We ordered a hummus plate, too. What's Hummus Kitchen without the hummus??

The menu offered loads more options that I'm just itching to go back to try. I'm most curious about the falafel and the lamb shakshuka, a spiced tomatoey stew with chunks of (of course) lamb.

As with most trending restaurants in the Itaewon district, a sit-down at Hummus Kitchen does not come cheap. It's definitely not the most pocket-friendly place for a college kid to kick it every weekend, but once in a while will be a welcome addition, as far as my tummy is concerned.

  1. I HAVE to go here. Sigh. I wish I lived in Seoul. Everything awesome and cool is there. I feel like I'm missing out on so much by living so far outside the city.
