Brooklyn is For Lovers

As much as I love being stuck in an office...there's nothing like a day off on a lazy weekend. I usually spend at least half the day at the restaurant or in the office, so when my schedule cleared up on the sunniest Sunday this year's seen yet, I made it a point to make my way to the flea market and explore everything that's there to see around Brooklyn.

I was expecting three dollar knick-knacks and furniture oddities from the 70's, but sadly no -- I didn't find anything for me that day. But they did have a little section of food booths at the side, with my personal favorite, DOUGH! Brooklyn's, and I'm convinced the world's, best doughnuts!

Ummm you don't suppose that these are real teeth, do ya? I found them under the tent of a guy who, by the looks of his stuff, looked like he was in multiple battles over the years. He sure didn't like it when people were touching his stuff, and I didn't want to be the one who made him even madder by questioning his collection.

After all that secondhand browsing, we were starving. But then I got distracted on the way to lunch cause of -- what else? -- a Vespa on the side of the road. I tried to be cool and pose for a potentially new profile picture. Let's just say it worked out.

Williamsburg has a ton of restaurant options, but anyone who knows me knows that I won't ever say no to soul food. Just so long as there's collared greens and mac n cheese on the side. Peter's Since 1969 was the big winner of the day, and for 15 bucks, their roasted chicken had me drooling over my plate and loosening my belt a couple of notches by the end of the meal.

I caught up to the sun at the Brooklyn Bridge just when it was about to set. No matter what people say, Brooklyn isn't overrated. Nothing beats the view of the Manhattan skyline across the river at sunset, or walking down the brownstone lined streets, or running into a hipster at every turn of the block.

There were lots of couples and families laying around the lawn. On a day like this, people shouldn't be doing anything else.
