Bauhouse Dog Cafe
Friday, November 22, 2013
It's Friday, and I'm in love! Captain received all of his required puppy shots this past week, and was given the okay by his vet to finally go outside and meet other little puppies. Dog cafe was the first thing that popped into my mind. Starting the weekend off with some puppy love. I dragged my friend, John, out, cause...well, no one goes to puppy cafes by themselves, you know?
Before you say anything, yes, Captain got a haircut. He's a little sensitive, so no teasing! In other news, doesn't he look spiffy in his Christmas sweater? All ready for the holidays!
Unfortunately lots of the restaurants in the area wouldn't allow dogs in for lunch hour, so we looked around for a place with an outdoor patio, eventually settling on Pasta Farm for pizza.
I did a little bit of research on dog cafes, and Bauhouse was one that repeatedly popped up. It's been around since 2001, waaaay before the dog cafe / cat cafe craze took off, and it's one of the few places that lets you bring in your own pooch. Unlike other cafes I've visited in the past, Bauhouse is very clean and spacious. Despite all the dogs, it just smelled like cleaning supplies, and that's about it. They house around 25 dogs, both big and small, all whom are super friendly and ready to play :)
This was Captain's first time meeting so many dogs at the same time. For the longest time, I'm pretty sure he thought he was the only dog in the world. He wasn't too keen about the whole thing. Granted he was the youngest and smallest out of all the other dogs in the cafe, and they were all really pushy with the butt-sniffing. Poor Cap'n spent most of the time chasing after me, while I chased after this giant Malamute.
There's really nothing to it. You walk in, wait for a table, order drinks, and play with puppies of all shapes and sizes to your heart's content! Is there any better way to spend a Friday afternoon?
