Tea Parties and Christmas Lights
Tuesday, November 19, 2013
Do you remember playing pretend as a child? I know I do! I remember seating five or six of my favorite stuffed animals around in a circle and played house, or doctor, or, my favorite, tea time. This may surprise a whole lot of people who know me now, but I was a bit of a girly-girl growing up. So I was quite ecstatic to hear a few of my friends were going out for afternoon tea over the weekend.
Okay, this is the big leagues, kids. Tea party but for grown-ups. No hot water and plastic scones here, but real tea and biscuits!
Our venue of choice: The Westin Chosun Hotel
A little fancy for a couple of college kids, but better it go right than terribly wrong!
Everything was very, very sweet, but if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I have one
massive sweet tooth. The dainty little cakes, macaroons, and custard topped pastries were right up my alley.

Of course, I would be the one to order a coffee during tea time... I was a little disappointed they didn't have any cream tea on the menu, so I went with the next best thing: roasted cappuccino.
Coffee is refillable, however tea is not, but they will continue to fill your pot with boiling water if you're the type to squeeze every ounce of flavor out of your tea leaves.
By the time we caught up on all the latest gossip and filled ourselves to the brim with chit-chat, we had managed to spend a good few hours at the Westin. When we walked out, the sun had already set, the Christmas lights came aglow, and knocked the feelings of post-food comatose right out of our system.
The main Shinsegae Department Store at Myeongdong is really a sight to see this time of year. Every inch of the store is covered in decorative lights, and is just asking to be photographed. So, I, the people-pleaser that I am, much obliged.
Five more weeks 'til Christmas!
